IntroductionAs Mira Road continues to transform into one of the fastest-growing suburbs of Mumbai, the challenges it faces have also grown. Development brings opportunity — but it also brings the responsibility to ensure that basic civic conditions are not only maintained but improved. Two issues that are most crucial to this development are cleanliness and public safety. These are not just governance goals — they are the very foundation of a healthy, modern, and citizen-friendly Mira Bhayandar.
Cleanliness is the Soul of a Civilized CityWhen a city is clean, it sends a 45message — that its citizens care, that the administration is active, and that the future is bright. But despite our city's growth, areas of Mira Road still face poor waste management, overflowing bins, open dumping, and neglected drains. In several localities, garbage piles up for days, especially in market zones and near residential complexes. This leads to not just a bad visual impression but serious health risks.
During the monsoons, these issues intensify. Blocked drainage leads to waterlogging, which becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Year after year, we see spikes in vector-borne diseases like dengue, malaria, and chikungunya. The root cause is often traced back to neglected waste disposal and poor sanitation.
Cleanliness is not only a municipal responsibility — it must be a people’s movement. As your District Vice President, I am constantly in touch with ward officials, sanitation workers, and resident associations to address these problems at the ground level. However, sustainable change will only come when we combine administrative effort with community involvement.
At jansevakpramodpatil.in , we have launched initiatives that focus on public cleanliness campaigns, youth volunteer clean-up drives, and awareness programs for proper waste segregation at source. Our goal is simple: to make Mira Road the cleanest suburb in Mumbai by the end of 2025.
Safety: The Right of Every CitizenJust as important as cleanliness is the right of every citizen to feel safe in their own neighborhood. Safety is not a privilege — it is a right. In recent years, however, the people of Mira Bhayandar have seen a worrying rise in safety concerns. These range from chain-snatching incidents and vehicle thefts to drug abuse in public places and lack of patrolling during night hours.
One of the biggest concerns among parents is the increasing influence of drugs near school and college areas. Youth are being targeted by drug peddlers, and there is a clear need for stronger police action, CCTV surveillance, and coordinated work between local authorities and residents.
I have raised these issues repeatedly in my meetings with law enforcement and municipal officials. There is an urgent need for more police chowkis, better-lit roads, and stronger night patrolling, especially in under-monitored sectors of Mira Road. Security cameras must become a standard feature, not an exception.
At jansevakpramodpatil.in/complaint, we’ve made it easy for citizens to report not just civic issues but also safety concerns anonymously. Every complaint we receive is forwarded to the concerned department, and we follow up until a resolution is achieved.
A Vision for 2025 and BeyondMy vision for Mira Bhayandar is to create a suburb where children can walk to school safely, where women feel secure traveling at night, and where every road, park, and society reflects cleanliness and order. We cannot wait for others to solve our problems — we must step forward and act.
That is why I urge every resident to get involved. Whether it is by attending ward meetings, participating in clean-up drives, or reporting suspicious activity — your participation matters.
